Tips for avoiding cracked brake drums



KIC Engineering has released Technical Bulletin 1107 which describes the most common causes of cracked drums due to mis-installation. You can find a pdf version here and on the KIC literature page. Call KIC at 800-488-5422 for additional information or to order hard copies of this bulletin.

KIC Drums Make the Grade...Easier!


KIC's Federal Motor Vehicle (FMVSS-121) testing on our new 60001-018 industry standard brake drum easily surpasses Federal requirements. The drum showed excellent fade and recovery characteristics. Website Additions


We have added a new feature to the KIC website, a new Assembly Search. You can now browse the KIC hub, spoke wheel and rotor assemblies based on simple, easy to use criteria.



Also new to the site is our updated 2007 full line catalog, here. We have streamlined our catalog with easier to use features such as more competitive interchanges, as well as indexes by brake shoe sizes. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

New Product Announcement


KIC is pleased to announce its new 60001-018 trailer brake drum. This new drum is 4 lbs lighter than our standard trailer drum and is interchangeable with the Gunite 3600AX and Webb 66864B.

  • Weight: 110 lbs
  • Minimum 30,000 lb tensile strength gray cast iron*
  • Hardness: 187 to 241 Brinell
  • Balanced to 20 in oz

* Note: Standard metallurgy for our entire line is the highest in the industry,
